Gray Duck Lighting is owned by Joe Dvorak and Mike Smoot. Between us we've spent years on Minnesota rooflines — roofing, siding, solar, exteriors. Permanent lighting sits on the exact surfaces we already know how to work on, which is why we started this instead of buying into something we'd have to learn from scratch.
Why the name
Duck, duck, gray duck
If you grew up here you know it's gray duck, not goose, and you know arguing about it is a Minnesota rite of passage. It seemed like the right name for a company that only works in this state, on houses that have to survive this weather.
How we work
A short list of promises
- We give you the price at the estimate, in writing, with the footage and rate shown.
- We tell you when the answer is no — bad candidate roofline, bad weather week, wrong product for your house.
- One of the owners is involved in every job. Not a rotating cast.
- If something breaks, the crew that installed it comes back.
