Each fixture draws about one watt, so a whole-house system running a few hours a night uses roughly what a handful of ordinary light bulbs would — a few dollars a month, not a number you'll find yourself watching. LEDs are most of why permanent lighting makes sense at all: the light output per watt is what lets a system this bright run this cheap.

No electrician is needed — the system plugs into a standard outlet — and if your preferred spot is somewhere else, we can usually accommodate it.

Yes. The app ships with a large library of preset scenes, and the custom editor lets you build your own from 16 million colors — save them, name them, schedule them by date. Each controller supports 8 independent zones, so the front peak, the garage line, and the porch can each run something different at the same time.

Yes — everyone in the household can have the app on their own phone with access to the same system. Larger homes that need more than one controller can link up to four controllers under a single account, so the whole house still behaves as one system.

Far fewer than traditional bulbs. Insects navigate toward ultraviolet light, and LEDs emit almost none — so while no outdoor light is invisible to a June bug, a permanent LED system draws noticeably fewer insects than the incandescent floods and porch lights it usually replaces.

The track doesn't give them anywhere to go. It's a low-profile aluminum channel fastened tight to the fascia — there's no open cavity like a gutter or a soffit gap. Wasps will test any surface on a house, but the track itself doesn't create a nesting spot, and in practice this is a non-issue we're asked about far more often than we ever see it.

Yes. Storefronts, restaurants, and office rooflines are a natural fit — year-round brand colors, holiday scenes without a lift rental every November, and scheduling that runs itself. Commercial rooflines are usually longer and simpler than residential ones, so the quote process is the same: we measure, you decide.

Almost none — that's the point of buying it once. There's nothing to take down, re-hang, or store, and the fixtures are sealed against weather. Over a couple of decades of use, expect an occasional service visit, the same as any hardworking system on your house. When that day comes, you call the local crew that installed it, not a national ticket queue.

Most Twin Cities homes run $6,000–$8,500 installed, which works out to $34–$36 per linear foot of roofline. The average home we light has about 215 feet of covered roofline. Price moves with three things: how many feet you cover, how many stories the crew has to reach, and how complex the roofline is. A single-story rambler with a simple front gable lands near the bottom of that range. A two-story with dormers, multiple peaks, and a wraparound covers more feet and takes longer, so it lands higher.

A price like that usually buys 85–100 feet — enough for the front of a small single-story home, not a whole house. It is a real number for a small job, but most homes need more than double that footage, so the quote you actually receive is rarely the advertised one. We publish per-foot pricing instead of a starting price so you can measure your own roofline and know roughly where you will land before anyone knocks on your door.

Yes. We collect 50% at signing and the balance when the system is installed and you have seen it working. The deposit covers your materials, which are ordered specifically for your home.

Directly, where the other brands let you check: Trimlight publishes $18–35 per foot nationally — a wide range because it varies by dealer and market — and JellyFish publishes no pricing at all (quotes are in-home only). Our $34–$36 per foot is the going rate for a professionally installed RGBW system in the Twin Cities. When you compare quotes, compare two things: the per-foot rate written on the proposal, and what the install includes — surge protection, ice-rated fastening, and who services it are where cheap quotes usually got cheap.
